Durango, Colorado Activities Southern Ute Indian Cultural Center Museum The Southern Ute Indian Cultural Center Museum brings to life the rich history of the Ute Indian People who occupied all of Colorado, eastern Utah, and northern New Mexico when the U. S. Civil War ended in 1868. Almost every highway in Colorado today follows one of the original trails the Utes showed the white men who first arrived in Colorado.
